Identity Map Draft 2 + Confusion

So I spent a while updating my Identity Map to include more of the “Critical Analysis” But I’m a little confused and think I might have actually taken a step in the wrong direction.

“Outline the various aspects of your online identity” & “Use words and phrases to describe your identity in these places.”

My problem is that the Identity Map is supposed to be about just that, my online identities; But I am falling into the trap of analysing my online behaviour instead.  And every time I try to change my focus I get confused and end up repeating the same mistake.

“Demonstrate very strong awareness of key issues discussed”

I remember talking about online identities and about how we portray ourselves differently to different audiences, but I’m not too sure what is meant by “key issues” and how this effects the information I need to include in my identity map. Or if I’m misunderstanding this entirely.

Anyway, I thought I would post my latest draft, even though it will probably change a lot. Let me know what you think about what I’ve discussed above, in the comments or on google+. Thanks.

  1. This is beautiful!

    I think it’s really hard to talk about how you represent yourself in certain spaces without thinking about what you do there. And I think you’ve struck a good balance here. You could also – for example – not the role you play in those spaces. For example, in the pink space, I would be a friend, a sister, a daughter, an aunty, a cousin, a niece…

    You could add this in if you like, but what you have is very good.

    1. Thank you so much for your help. I kind of hit a wall and wasn’t sure If I was interpreting it right anymore. ^^;
      This helps a lot.

    2. The other day when I was stuck I described my different Identities to my family and asked them for suggestions on how I should depict it in my map. They suggested I draw them all.
      I really like this idea but i think my identity map is too cluttered already. Would it be ok to have an accompanying character map(?) or does it have to be a single diagram?

      1. I would LOVE to see a character map and you are welcome to do that separately. You could put it in a single blog post with your identity map.

        If you are short on time, you might want to think about whether it’s worth the time in terms of impact on your grade. Why don’t you see if you’ve got time left at the end? You could always put up a rough sketch at the end if you’re keen and have time left, or even share it with us later (although obviously not for marks).
